Traumatic Brain Injury

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke has this to say about a potentially serious condition known as traumatic brain injury:

Traumatic brain injury (TBI), also called acquired brain injury or simply head injury, occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. TBI can result when the head suddenly and violently hits an object, or when an object pierces the skull and enters brain tissue. Symptoms of a TBI can be mild, moderate, or severe, depending on the extent of the damage to the brain.

Banyan Biomarkers is a new company which develops biomarker diagnostic tests intended to diagnose traumatic brain injury. Biomarkers are cellular components, including proteins. They are found in body fluids and can indicate injury to the brain.

Air Valves

Information from Global Spec:

Air valves allow metered flow of fluid in one or both directions. Many of them allow for free flow in one direction and reduced or metered flow in the reverse direction. They are used in pneumatic circuits to regulate the rate of activation or exhaust of cylinders and other pneumatic devices. Air valves can be configured in-line or at right angles. In an in-line configuration the input and output ports are on the same axis. In a right angle configuration the input and output ports are perpendicular.

The article goes on to discuss flow control choices and flow compensation. The latter entails noncompensated, pressure compensated, and temperature compensated options. Adjustable flow and fixed flow can be air valve adjustability options.
